It is often staggering how some among us are capable of conjuring up and creating stuff from absolute nothing and making something meaningful using the most unlikely sources. While we will not call all of them outright geniuses (much like modern media which finds it shelter in repetitive hyperbole), they have an uncanny ability of producing something special from what seems totally worthless. Diego Stocco is one such guy who has already created something both unique and special with his music from sand and has once again done something audacious from music and this time it emanates from trees. Making the leaves and twigs give a symphony in the open air theater is what Diego manages to do with his Music Tree.
The whole thing started when the dude observed a few twigs spring up on a tree in his backyard and he instantly went to work by shaping them using a pencil sharpener and then using the tree itself to create some cool tunes. Using two Røde NT6s and a NTG-2 as microphones, combined with a customized stethoscope Diego recorded the tracks live on a Pro Tools LE system. Playing the twigs, shaking the branches and ruffling the leaves… all added up to some real original and natural music!
