The old assumption that running will destroy the knees no longer applies. According to new studies, runner’s knee is avoidable and that running can even actually protect the knees. Having a suntan is definitely pronounced as dangerous. The old belief was that ‘ultraviolet light or sunlight, which contains ultraviolet light, could cure rickets, a disease characterized by weak and deformed bones as a result of a vitamin D deficiency.’ It is now clear and irreversibly definite to scientists that ultraviolet radiation does cause skin cancer.
Eating healthy may not always be completely healthy. Orthorexia nervosa is an eating disorder that causes compulsive eating and maniacal obsession of health food in the belief that these would cure some perceived disease. Margarine is no longer a healthy alternative to butter. ‘Margarine’s trans-fat not only raises bad cholesterol but also lowers good cholesterol.’ Margarine is said to be ‘just a generic term for a heavily processed, industrialized, laboratory-made fat product.’
Eggs are no longer scary. ‘The cholesterol in eggs — and there’s a lot, over 200 mg, or two-thirds your daily recommended allowance — doesn’t seem to have as much effect on blood cholesterol levels as does the saturated fat in butter and meat.’ Instead, ‘eggs are high in many essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, particularly healthy omega-3 fatty acids, depending on what kind of eggs you buy.’
Multivitamins are not as basically beneficial as they are once thought out to be. There is no convincing scientific evidence that multivitamins is generally good. While you don’t have to stop taking them, there is also no valid reason why you should start taking them if you still haven’t.
