One of India’s premier telecommunications company, Virgin Mobile, which is collaboration of Virgin Group and Tata Teleservices has released its brand new series of data devices starting with the launch of a a USB modem called, vLink.

vLink is a USB modem that offers 1 GB data storage and works on CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) and offers a 1 GB data storage and is available at a price of Rs. 2,100.

According to Deval Parikh (Virgin Mobile India Chief Officer),

“vLink comes with a starter kit… Which includes free unlimited promo data usage time of 30 days. We have launched two tariff plans – Rs 801 per month (for unlimited data usage) and Rs 349 per month (with a facility of balance roll over to next month),”

He further clarified that the second plan that users can adopt for vLink services comes on pro-rata basis,where users are charged 25 paise per minute (between 8 am-10 pm) and 13 paise per minute (between 10 pm-8 am).

At present, India has an estimated 49.40 million internet users, out of which 52 percent account for users below the age of 25.

According to M A Madhusudan (CEO, Virgin Mobile India),

“vLink will offer instant connectivity on the move to the style conscious youth, be it students, professionals, SMBs or SOHOs…It is a carry-along device that will allow users to access internet anywhere as well as store their music, photos, videos etc.”
