No doubt the new Clipper Mecanique Chronograph will win you over with its conservative handsome looks and remarkable use of the Hermes Clipper watc theme. But the moment you set your eyes on the price tag, you will be surprised (and not pleasantly so) to read $50,000.

A watch that is not even classified as either a men’s, women’s or kids’, we think is horribly over-priced. Agreed there is an 18L rose gold frame with some smooth mechanical movements. But there isn’t anything special about these features. Though you might take a fancy tothe bezel rivets, the circular numeral placement and faceted sword styled hands.

Let us not forget to tell you that this timepiece made its way to the Foundation de la Haute Horlogerie, which could be a reason for it’s high cost price. A brand like Hermes has a strong brand loyalty and the mechanically oriented timepieces are very sound but at the same time we think that this watch is far from fashionable. But the makers see it otherwise because they have launched it as a special limited edition range with only 24 pieces.
