New York City needs no introduction but with recession time looming all over, the NYC & Co. The NYC Company has teamed up with Google and Travelocity to create a new tourism related website and a grand new 200sq ft visitor’s centre. The visitor’s centre is equipped with interactive tables and kiosks. Google Earth’s technical capabilities allow visitors to browse through the boroughs of the city and create an easy interface to help tourists acquaint themselves with NYC.
The idea has been to create a ad campaign for the city of New York in order to attract more foreigners to visit. With the economy slumping everywhere, Chinese and Russian tourists have drastically declined and have been looking for cheaper alternatives closer home.
Perhaps, in order to create an enthusiasm among people to visit NYC, the city authorities are teaming up with several bigwigs to get on board and get New York noticed. It should not be a tough job too, for New York needs no introduction. City authorities expect at least a million dollars ad revenue from the official website.
