One of the foremost cellular phone makers in the world, Nokia, seems to be taking a different approach in terms of GPS technology together. Nokia has announced that it would be experimenting with an ‘indoor GPS system’. GPS or Global Positioning System isn’t anything new that anyone would be excited about. However, Nokia has decided to try out an all new indoor GPS system at the Kamppi Shopping Center in Helsinki, Finland. Finding your location outdoors via a GPS device is child’s play. But, when it come to urban areas, where there is extreme congestion, it’s almost impossible to know where you are, especially in an enclosed and a crowded building.
Nokia on the other hand, is giving its best shot to change all that by running an indoor GPS system in the ‘test phase’ at the mall. People inside the Kamppi Shopping Center will be able to access their exact locations, indoor maps, information and other valuable information to help you navigate through the maze of the shopping mall’s alleys. Shoppers can log onto Kamppi Mobile Website to avail the advantages of all the above features, plus Kamppi Shopping Center vouchers.
Shoppers will also be able to share their exact locations with their friends and family via text messages or SMS (Short Messaging Service). The indoor GPS technology is currently available only at Kamppi Shopping Center and on Nokia S60 series mobile phones.
Nokia’s all new indoor GPS system gives its users the freedom to locate their exact positions, restaurants, shops and friends. With this innovative and highly useful service you can also send your location to your friends and family with a SMS. Users can also search for their friends inside the shopping complex and know their location on the maps.
