The thread like null between hostilities in the Korean peninsula flared up again with the test launch of five short range missiles by North Korea. This provocative exercise is being viewed as a major dent to the ongoing talks between South and North Korea, aimed that bringing stabilization to the region. The missiles were test fired from the North Korean eastern launch pad today afternoon.
Both South and North Korea have been at loggerheads ever since, North Korea admitted to its continuous efforts to acquire nuclear weapons and technology. There have been times when, diplomatic dialogues had been initiated between the two countries, courtesy of the six party alliance and the international community, but it has always been marred by some sort of hostile or provocative act on part of Pyongyang.
Today’s working dialog was centered around the deteriorating conditions made by the Imjin river, that floods annually and wreaks havoc on the villages along the border between North and South Korea. A second agenda on the talks was to include Red Cross officials, aimed at the reunification of families that were dispelled during the Korean War of 1950-53. However, after the missile test launch, South Korea has categorically denied that, Seoul is going to enter into high-level talks with Pyongyang in the near future.
