The dividing line with China, which extends along 1.400 kilometers, it is one of those most watched of the world, but, also, one of the most permeable and capitalist, in spite of the thousands of soldiers parked in their proximities, due to the tremendous economical differences between both the sides.

Smuggling of every type of goods, women’s traffic, sale of tourist paraphernalia of the regime of Kim Jong-il, boats go to contemplate from the river some parts of the life in the most isolated country of the world and to make illegal visits to North Korea. The regime of Pyongyang did of its isolation the key to survival. But the North Korean hunger and the Chinese will of doing businesses opened holes in the border. The rivers Tumem, in the north, and Yalu, in the south, are places of frequent passage for the North Koreans that escape from the poverty and of the political repression. China doesn’t recognize them as refugees and many are returned to North Korea, where they take the risk of be interned in forced work fields and even being executed.
