Now, An Onion Can Charge Your iPod

Owen Louis has established a new benchmark in eco-saving. The 21-year-old from Portsmouth actually powers his iPod with onions that are soaked in an energy drink solution.

Apparently, he was watching TV as usual while working on lappy and listening o his iPod when he was suddenly struck by the though, ‘How much electricity must I be using?’ The one his friends just showed him a little experiment for a laugh but for Louis it was a life-changing moment.

So, the yound lad bores two holes in an onion, soaks it in an energy drink like Gatorade and then sticks a USB cable into it. This little set up helps him charge his iPod for at least an hour. Reserachers support that all vegetables contains ions which react with energy drinks and create a charge.

Indeed, a unique way to tackle the problem of electricity overuse. The onion decomposed and the drink bottle can be recycled. However, the two problems cannot be ignored. One, the make shift charger cannot be controlled. Second, the process can be really messy and smelly.

But what the heck! Anything for nature. Keep up the good work Louis.
