Nvidia Licenses Graphics Technology To Intel And Others

One of the biggest and the most successful manufacturers of high end graphic cards for gaming computers, Nvidia has announced that it will be providing its SLI technology to various PC motherboards manufacturers such as Intel, Gigabyte, Asus etc, for future generations of intel chips.

As per the licensing deal, the motherboard manufacturers will be able to incorporate the SLI (Scalable Link Interface) developed by Nvidia into the P55 motherboards, that are compatible with the current generation of Intel Core i7 and i5 processors. According to Nvidia, the entire deal is really unique, due to the fact that, Intel is now licensing the technology to other chip manufacturers, that too prior to the introduction of it new series of processors.

According to Nvidia spokesperson,

“What’s exciting is that Intel signed on before the launch (of new chips). Before, they came on after the launch. This makes it easier for system builders and OEMs (PC makers).”

In a statement Clem Russo (VP & GM, Intel Client Board Division) said,

“Nvidia SLI technology is a perfect complement to the processing prowess of our new Core i7 and Intel DP55KG desktop board. This combination will surely be attractive to anyone building or purchasing a brand new PC this fall.”
