Untitled 7 NYT says no to RSS

During the Steve Jobs presentation on Monday, it was presented the main reasons for an application to be removed from the App Store: does not work as the description says, hangs, or uses restricted APIs to Apple. Of the thousands of applications that appraisers receive weekly App Store, only 5% are not approved. But when an app is approved and then have to be removed?

That is precisely what the New York Times Co., the company that publishes The New York Times did today. The newspaper came into contact with the evaluators from the App Store and was able to make an application called Pulse has been removed from the Apple store. Basically, what Pulse does is display the contents of certain websites, drawing text, pictures and videos via RSS. The NY Times was one of those sites covered by Pulse.

The Pulse has been downloaded over 35,000 times since it was released to IPAD. The application, which costs $ 4, takes advantage of the unique interface of the gadget to display content, complete with a table full of images, from which the user chooses what to read. Just like any other RSS feed reader for SOI 4, say, in passing.

According to the New York Times, the request to remove the app is motivated by the irregular use of the RSS feed. According to the newspaper company, the manufacturer of the Pulse could not make commercial use of the RSS newspaper and web site Boston.com. Because Pulse is paid, it felt entitled to complain.
