Barack Obama in his characteristic way of trying to solve problems has offered to not build missile shields in Eastern Europe if Russia cooperates with the West to disarm Iran. The idea is interesting when Russia has continued to supply uranium to Iran while the whole world is worried about Iran’s nuclear capabilities. He wrote a secret letter to Medvedev.

The catch however is, U.S. is trying to use Russian diplomacy to get what it wants and also making sure Russia comes under the control of American diplomacy. However, it is quite not possible that the Russians would ever agree to cooperate with the U.S. when they have clearly stated that Iran is not building nuclear weapons but are only using the uranium to build reactors to generate the much needed electricity.

Middle East could prove to be a nemesis to the peace and order of the world, with U.S. actively encouraging this nemesis to become more active. Russia may perhaps have to take a more robust foreign policy in order to quell foreign pressure. It should be noted that Russians have long suffered due to Islamic and other religious problems. They are no strangers to fundamentalists and they neither need lessons nor luring to get things done.
