Spending hours in the gym or joining weight-loss exercise programs may not help in shedding those extra kilos. According to latest research over eating and not lack of exercise is responsible for rise in obesity among developed nations.
According to WHO estimates 1.6 billion adults were overweight worldwide in 2005 and out of them 400 million were obese. Latest studies in Britain predict that by 2050 90 percent of children will be obese adults. Researchers also found that exercise had no effect on the US overweight children. In US obesity has reached epidemic proportions and it was entirely due to excessive calories. Thus a cut in calorie intake and cut down on high calorific food is the only way to control weight and lead a healthy life.
This study will burst the myth that sedentary life style leads to obesity. Exercises are more essential for leading an active life than cutting down extra flab. This may not be good news to many slimming centers that have cropped up all over the world. Researchers urged public health should be more focused on diet than physical activity to control obesity epidemic in developed nations.
