And we thought beauty was skin deep! In the times of extreme physical consciousness, researchers at Tel Aviv University have got their own two cents to add. They have developed a beauty machine which, at the press of a button can turn a picture of your actual face into that of a cover model.
At the moment, the output of the machine is limited to digitized images only but the software will be of great value addition to plastic surgeons and cover editors. Lead researcher Prof Daniel Cohen-Or says that beauty is not always in the eyes of the beholder.
As expected, the concept has provoked a huge controversy all across the world. Firstly because, the actual person is not shown in the picture. Secondly, the religious think that tweaking God’s work is not exactly holy. To this Cohen clarifies that it is amazing to quanitfy beauty in mathematical terms. To the researchers, every picture is nothing but a collection of numbers.
All that apart, this beauty machine is very different from Photoshop which is infamous for making people unrecognizable. The Tel Aviv creation is more subtle retaining an unmistakable similarity to the original picture.
So, any takers?
