If you are a video game player, you might be interested in this bit of news: OnLive’s Steve Perlman has announced the OnLive Game Service which comes at a subscription fee of $14.95. You would need to pay money other than this amount for the actual game rental or for purchase of games. It is designed to be a streaming game service, and thus you would not have to download anything to your computer and the game would be played from a remote server.
Apparently, you could use the service on any gadget or device, which highly seems unlikely. Jeff Gerstmann at Giant Bomb seems to be sceptical about the services as well. If you still would like to try, you shall have to wait till 17th of June, when it would go live.
Some of the games that may be available for p0laying are Mass Effect 2, Assassin’s Creed II, and Borderlands. The idea that you have to pay a monthly fee, and again pay to play games seems to be off-putting for many online, including Jeff. While I do not really play video games ever, it is quite absurd to pay a monthly fee for something and then again pay in order to use the services when you choose to do so.
