Otarian Restaurant Steps upto Carbon Footprint Intiative

Otarian Menu feature the carbon figures for each item listed on the menu and foods which generate too much of the black footprints are not offered altogether. The folks are also analyzing the World Resources Institute’s new product carbon foot printing standard to help customer understand their food choices in highly measurable and quantifiable way.

The restaurant makes use of correct stats and references to help customers make a choice. For example, by switching a meat-based lunch for its Carbon Saving Combo meal, a diner could save 2.3 kg (5.07 lbs.) of carbon, which Otarian says is the equivalent of four central London black cab journeys, a 27 km (16.8 miles) drive in an eco car, or 12 central London tube trips. Also they would opt for ingredients that can be transported via road instead of airways.

I am sure Otarian would have achieved this green-conscious feat without any compromise on its food quality and taste. Their carbon footprint initiative will unleash a completely different trend in the hospitality industry.
