Pakistan seems to be literally in soup these days. The country has come under attack from many sides, including the notorious Talibans, the Americans and also militants within the country. Pakistani government stands helpless while all these ‘outsiders’ have taken the country for a ransom. The recent attack on the Sri Lankan team has left Pakistan not only shamed and humiliated, but also reveals the darker underbelly of Islamic Fundamentalism that exists within the country.

The country has thus recently begun to showcase rubbles and broken down villages which came under heavy mortar attack. It is surprising that a country must boast of villages that have been reduced to rubble. However, what the Pakistanis are trying to convey is that they really ARE fighting the Talibans and Islamic militants. Perhaps they are, but religion is a dangerous weapon which can set people against people. Meanwhile, the Americans have seized the opportunity to conduct air raids on Pakistan.

If the Americans should invade Pakistan, we can expect another colossal human tragedy like we have seen in Afghanistan and Iraq. American seems to be eyeing South Asia now, while Indians are just too eager to have the Americans in their backyard. This proves the sad state that Middle East and South Asia is stuck under. One could blame religious fundamentalists for the mess these countries are in, and also for inviting American hawks.
