After the success of Avatar, people have been really obsessed about 3D and everything that has got something to do with the 3D technology. Not surprisingly, Panasonic had announced their 3D Televisions and it now appears that the TV has been sold out in the US. Customers in U.K. will have to wait for 2 more weeks and it might create a lot of frustration among the British 3D lovers.
However, you would still need to use the special 3D eyewear and install certain programmes, and this could be a major deterrent for many users. However, thanks to the FIFA World Cup being just a while away, Panasonic TV would be in great demand not only in the U.S. and U.K., but also in mainland Europe and in Asia.
50-inch HD TV with a pair of glasses and a 3D Blu-ray player for $3,000 and that is not a huge price anyway. A lot of people can afford to spend that and perhaps that is why it has already been sold out in the U.S. It would be interesting to see if this is going to be a fad or if 3D TVs would replace traditional televisions.
