Pay stations now go solar with the new Single Space Parking Meter (SSPM) concept from IPS. The company has a well established history of parking meter manufacture. Drivers sick and fed up of jammed printers can relax now. These meters accept credit cards, debit cards and coins too. The SSPM are wirelessly networked with a centralized Meter Management system that facilitates meter status reporting and credit card authorizations.

SSPM  can be fixed to the existing poles and housings thereby decreasing the installation charges and starts working within seconds saving time. They are solar powered and equipped with a rechargeable battery pack with 3 year guarantee. The meter’s display appears informative and shows the cost for specific space and time at which the meter was enforced along with the current day and date. In addition, it shows the time remaining and when the payment would expire.

These high-tech meters are tough with a vandal resistant LEXAN dome. These new meters were already trialed in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills last year. Probably, SSPM is the best system for on-street parking in America till date and will soon be seen at many more places.
