Japan is of course one of the most developed and affluent countries in the world. Without Japanese technology and research, the world may have been a different place. However, Japanese culture is something that people assume is very hard to understand, and that it is exotic. However, in a nation that is governed by robotic thinking and strange civilities, one can expect to encounter the most bizarre practices.

Japanese people usually surprise most foreigners with their quirks and strange habits, and most of that can be seen through some of their gadgets as well. For instance, take a look at the Pee Without Noise, which forces a man to sit while urinating. Whatever explanations might be given for this “furniture”, it still appears absurd and bizarre.

This stool is in fact quite a possible metaphor for Japanese polite behaviour which is so extreme that it becomes rude. In fact, the Japanese idea of being polite and “cultured” is so manufactured, that the over-politeness is easily interpreted by foreigners as rudeness. To interfere in people’s bathroom’s practices in the name of politeness is just another instance. If you like doing it kneeling down, buy it here.
