People Prefer Saving Money to Visiting Japan

Seems the tourism sector in Japan should be ready to incur future losses, as there has been a severe fall in the number of tourists visiting Japan!

A researcher in Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) said that the two prime reasons for the fall in the number of tourists are, the rise in the value of yen and the scare of swine flu.

Previous year, the tourism sector in Japan held a record of 8.35 million, but this year it dropped to 6.79 million, which amounts the losses to 18.7 percent .A similar situation was witnessed by Japan in the year 1971 when the number of tourists dropped to 22.7 percent because an international exhibition was held at Osaka.

Last year there was a plunge of 1.59 million in the number of tourists visiting South Korea (Japan’s largest tourist attraction). This certainly has affected the country’s tourism sector economy adversely.

Even Taiwan had to meet with losses. It experienced a loss of 26.3 percent as compared to the previous year, but China fared pretty well this season by witnessing a rise of 0.6 percent(one million).

The government is trying every possible effort to raise the number again. As the threat of swine flu is decreasing now, so people will, hopefully, conjure up their romance with Japan.
