Sergio PininfarinaLife Senator and Honorary Chairman of the Pininfarina Group was easilt the best known and respected Italian automobile designer. He headed Pininfarina for 40 years and under his leadership the firm produced a range of legendary four wheel machines. He passed away in July last year and to pay tribute to his exceptional talent, Pininfarina has created a concept car which they will unveil next week at the Geneva Motor Show. There wasn’t much discussion on what to call this concept car and it was most appropriately named ‘Sergio’. The International press called the Italian automobile designer ‘King of Design’ and it is a fitting tribute to the creative genius to have a concept car named after him.
‘Sergio’ is a True Sports Car for Auto Enthusiasts
Pininfarina have been a regular at the Geneva Motor Show. In the 2010 edition of the show they had launched their Pininfarina Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Concept which was developed as a tribute to Alfa Romeo to celebrate its centenary year. The concept will finally be commercially produced as Mazda and Fiat have entered into an agreement with them and the car will roll out of the production line in 2015. Sergio, the new concept car will also go back to the fascinating world of the two-seater barchetta. It is a true sports car that will be aimed at those auto enthusiasts for whom a car is source of emotion. You cannot but admire the unique forms of the custom designed model.

The Italian coach builder has released the first look of the concept car which they claim “renews the spirit of the extraordinary achievements born under Sergio Pininfarina’s guide, projecting them towards the future in the name of exclusivity, innovation and passion.” The car sits very low in the true Italian tradition but other details about the new concept car have not been released but the car is sure to be a fitting tribute to Sergio Pinifarina who was acclaimed all over the world as Master if Italian Style.
