Worlds Largest Solar Boat PlanetSolar: The world’s Largest Solar Boat is Unveiled

In the age of advanced technology and the scientific world, solar energy is gradually pitching in its power into so many different ways. From solar heater to solar car, and now it’s solar boat. PlanetSolar is the world’s largest solar boat, which has just been unveiled recently. Looks like everything will be dependent on solar power in the future. Just the thought of the boat being powered by solar energy makes it a lot more exciting.

PlanetSolar is 31m long and 15m wide white cataraman. The boat looks beautiful from every angle. I am just so fascinated by the fact that the boat can hold up to 50 passengers. Indeed, it would be so much fun to spend a short holiday on the boat. When it comes to speed, the boat can reach a top speed of about 15 knots.

It is interesting to note that SunPower provides the boat’s 38,000 photovoltaic cells and their new cells have an efficiency of at least 22 percent. The 60 ton catamaran has been built at a whopping cost of approximately $24.4 million at the Knierim Yacht Club at Kiel in northern Germany. The boat will be functional in 2011 and it has built with the interest to provide a global circumnavigation.
