One of the most renowned makers of exquisite luxury sport cars, Porsche has announced the launch of an all new series of car batteries, that have been designed and developed to work with the Porsche 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS, and Boxster Spyder series of high performance sports cars and is will be available from January 2010 with a price tag of a staggering $1,700 a piece
The purpose of these new starter batteries are specifically designed to be light weight as to provide optimized support to sports cars that are aerodynamically designed and whose performance is hindered by bulky batteries. The all new car battery is contained in a lithium ion pack with exact dimensions and functions of a regular car battery.
The cars manufactured from January 2010 will be delivered with two sets of batteries, one will be the regular car battery and the other will be the new lithium ion pack lightweight car battery. However, even with the high performance capabilities of the new batteries, the flip side of it is that, this battery is restricted by weather factors, such as the battery isn’t able to provide optimum performance below the operating temperature of 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C.
