
PortableApps Suite is a collection of independent software to be run from any portable device, such as, for example, any MP3 player, iPod, flash drive or even CD! The package includes the following software: Portable Firefox, OpenOffice Portable, Thunderbird Portable, portable messenger, calendar, ClamWin antivirus portable version, and even a Sudoku game.
The collection includes a menu with a custom set of icons and automatic settings, folders and shortcuts for quick access. The installation takes just 15 minutes and if you want, you can still download other programs and include them in the main menu of PortableApps.
In this scenario, a portable version of Firefox can be very useful. The site, however, only created portable versions of programs that are open source.
This week John Haller, CEO and lead developer of the company, has announced the first portable applications in closed-source suite of programs, including Google Chrome browser, the program for Skype VoIP calls and manager torrents uTorrent. He said that “because of our unique dual license, the owners of the programs can integrate their application in our installer freeware open source without having to change your programs or licenses.
Programs portable released has the same number of the current version: uTorrent in version 1.8.4, Skype version 4.1 and Google Chrome in version 3.0. All of them are only available for Windows platforms
