At the DEMO Spring 2010, one of the foremost names in digital media, Hillcrest labs has announced the launch of its all new television browser, Kylo. This all new web browser for TV will enables users access internet via their PCs and Macs connected with their television sets. Kylo provides the users with almost similar functions, that are available from a regular web browsers, also allowing the users to view the web content from a good distance.
As per the makers of Kylo, the web browser isn’t exactly a replacement for the current generation web browsers, such as Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox. Instead, the Kylo TV browser is meant to connect the two entertainment platforms that allow the users to surf the web in regular fashion. However, one of the primary concerns while using the Kylo TV web browser is the connectivity required between the computers and the television. To solve this problem, Hillcrest Labs has issued a tutorial in explaining the process here. Hillcrest Labs has also introduced a motion-sensing Loop remote control that works as mouse for the Kylo TV web browser.
The all new Kylo TV web browser is available absolutely free of cost and can be downloaded from Kylo TV.
According to Dan Simpkins (CEO, Hillcrest Labs),
“No matter how hard they try, no single set-top-box manufacturer, specialized TV widget developer,or content aggregator can match the volume of online viewing choices available on a computer. For this reason, many consumers are simply using their new HDTVs as an alternative display for their PCs or Macs. So, we’ve developed Kylo as a free and simple TV browser that enables them to visit any site on the Web, and makes the entire experience more enjoyable.”
