Whenever we purchase a new cell phone, most of us simply insert the SIM card, battery and then immediately start exploring the device. However, for those users who aren’t that techie or mostly in the case of elder people, these incredibly advanced mobile platforms tend to become a maze of features and abilities that, most of them aren’t able to decipher. In light of this hurdle, a new kind of revolutionary instruction manual has been deigned and developed, that not only enables the users to better understand their smart phones, but is also rather fun to use.
Simply called, ‘Out of the Box’, is a one of a kind instruction manual that comes in the form of a book, that contains not only the required instructions, but also the phone itself. Out of the Box has been the culmination of efforts of designer Clara Gaggero, Adrian Westaway and graphic designer Jaakko Tuomivara. The book is the case of the phone and carries the device embedded in the book, with numerous arrows placed precisely at the location of the phone’s features, so as provide the users with a clear grasp of their device.
The second element in this smart instruction manual is the use of cards. These cards are provided with the smart phone and carry all the features of the device. Unlike conventional boxes, where your phone is already activated with all the features, this new method gives the consumers a phone that devoid of all the features and the users can activate these feature by placing the relevant cards on the screen of the device.
