With the advent of the sol called “revolutionary” 4G technology in mobile communication, network carriers and handset manufacturers are scrambling to get their own slice of fame and fortune from the new technology. However, as per latest reports, the 4G network presents not enough to entice consumers and companies alike. For starters, the massive technological leap taken from 2G to 3G is still considered to be massive in front of 4G networks. The 3G revolution literally opened a world of online possibilities on mobile platforms, such as cell phones. But in the case of 4G the guaranteed jump in data speeds is quite exaggerated.
Innovating the 4G spectrum, one of the major wireless carriers in the U.S, Sprint Nextel will become the first carrier to have adopted 4G standards, when the company announces the launch of its first 4G phone, the EVO, this week. In an effort to tap into the newly born 4G era, even Verizon Wireless will also be launching its own 4G services in 25 to 30 cities in the U.S. 4G will essentially bring the users closer to online multimedia content such as videos that would stream faster on their cell phones and other mobile devices. Even the concept of Videoconferencing and multiplayer gaming on cell phones might also become a reality with the 4G network. However, unlike the 3G phenomenon, the, 4G upgrade is less likely to bring any new additions to the mobile market, instead it would be able to speed things up, in a matter of speaking.
