sarcasm Psychology and Its Relavance: Sarcasm Study Says it All

Psychologists today are in great demand due to the plethora of mental illnesses found in the society. Psychologists trace the reasons for mental disorders to biological, psycho-social and socio-cultural reasons. Psychology is being touted as a complete science, which may not be true and most clinical psychologists refuse to acknowledge the subjectivity involved in the profession.

Most clients (the psychologist’s term for a patient) fail to receive any good treatment and achieve positive results after psychotherapy and other techniques used by clinical psychologists. Though the profession is regulated and highly deemed, it hardly achieves the results it claims to. nevertheless, a lot of money goes into the research and most of them are banal.

One such study is that of the Neurophysiologist Katherine Rankin at the University of California, San Francisco. The psychologist found out that sarcasm is an important survival strategy and is important for social communication and helps in judging people. Such banal “studies” take up all the research funding and thus reveals the futility of the profession. Sarcasm? Really!
