Here is some good news for dedicated online journalists. Apparently, an online journalist can now bag the much-coveted award for excellence in print journalism, The Pulitzer Prize.
This indeed sounds very cool and it will perhaps encourage aspiring journalists to be more serious about their jobs. However, nothing comes easy and the online journalists must adhere to certain criteria as in they must have their original news reporting and coverage of ongoing stories publish at least once in a week regularly. Video, however, is still not applicable in the criteria. The competition in the journalism world is for sure getting tougher by the minute. Nevertheless, it’s a big gateway for the online journalists to showcase their talents at a higher level as they can now compete with their contemporary counterparts in the larger forum such as vying for The Pulitzer Prize.
It’s in fact interesting that this good news comes precisely on the same day when The Tribune Company, one of America’s biggest newspaper companies filed for bankruptcy. Looks like the Internet world is capturing everything. And who says that only the print journalists can win The Pulitzer Prize?
