Call it a freak incident or a hate crime that has stirred emotions all across America. Brandon McClelland’s gruesome murder has resulted in fresh racial tensions in the conservative South. Texan McClelland was black and was dragged by a truck to his death by two white men. However, it is unclear and perhaps preposterous to say that it was a racially motivated crime. Blacks for long have played the race card and have practically called every accident, murder-for-gain and non-racially motivated attacks to be racially motivated. This of course stems from the fact that they have been violated against for long, for centuries. Men and women have been burnt and tortured and killed in front of spectators and the place where Brandon was killed was witness to sinister crimes against the blacks.
But that does not justify the accusations against white people that every crime against a black individual is racially motivated. Blacks may need to introspect and consider the fact that things have changed a lot from what they used to be a century ago or even a decade. It is important to learn from our history, but nurturing hatred and revenge only creates rifts between communities.
Though it is unclear at this stage to say if the death of Brandon McClelland was racially motivated or was just a tragic accident, it is important not to jump into conclusions and blame the white community instead of the men who drove the truck, without any evidence. Glorifying past crimes against humanity by posing the victims as martyrs for a cause will fuel existing racial tensions.

My take on this sensitive issue is: Customary practices become blind rituals that are inherited to the next generation and hence there is no time for anyone to give a thought on the ill side of such customs and find a way out.
“Racialism” is a custom
“Singing a song that we need to do away with racialism” is now a celebrated ritual
“death of Brandon McClelland” is inheritance.
And the entire concept is VOID.
Well pointed out Jaiyant!
