Rallies Against Neo-Nazis

Thousands of people recently joined a rally in the German town of Osnabrüeck, northwest of the country, to protest against a merger that brought together hundreds of neo-Nazis. People declared their disapproval of the burgeoning group known for their propensity for violence. Thousands of police officers had to be deployed to prevent clashes between the two groups.

The antifascist demonstration was called by parties across the political spectrum, unions, and various religious and social movements. The attendance totaled 10,000 participants, while police estimated their ranks at 5,500.

The mayor of Osnabrüeck, Boris Pistorius, congratulated the mass influx of residents to the event and stressed that it is a clear sign that xenophobia, intolerance, and racism have no place in their city.

Also in the town of Dessau-Rosslau in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt, some 500 people protested against a march by about 250 neo-Nazis on the anniversary of the destruction of the city by the bombings of WWII. The police, once again, made an overwhelming deployment.

Neo-Nazism is a clear and present danger in Germany. German people cannot be fooled by the democratic front of the neo-Nazi party. It is an open secret that the group has been building a weapons arsenal to resurrect Hitler’s Reich. In other parts of the world where neo-Nazis are found such as Brazil, they have earned a reputation for unbridled violence.
