Good news for the adventurers forever looking for excitement in their lives. eBay is auctioning Aaron Grote’s much celebrated Atomic Punk bubbletop custom rod (remember Detroit Autorama Extreme?). Grote claims that he has built the rod from the rusty hunches of a ‘59 Plymouth. The motor is a 392 hemi and runs as smooth as butter giving the ultimate driving experience.
For a unique look, the front end of the bubbletop is chrome drilled and dropped. As a matter of fact, the Ed Roth inspired hot rod has been featured as the Cover Car in the newest Rod and Cutom Magazine, plus it is also getting coverage in many other magazines.
To me the auction text on eBay is most attractive. It reads as follows:
“I don’t HAVE to sell it. I don’t believe all of this talk about a recession. I am coming out of the biggest recession I have ever seen after building this thing!! I can assure you though; if it sells I promise to blow most of the money on more stupid car stuff.”
Grote is funny and car crazy. I won’t be surprised if this write up also plays a role in getting him a huge check. The current bid sits happily at $61,100. Let’s wait and watch the fate of this bubbletop machine.
