Retail still not in Good Shape

Although the Obama government is doing all it can to stabilize the economy, things are still not in great shape. Retail sales fell by 1.1 percent, which is an unexpected fall in last three months.

A huge drop has been witness in the auto industry as well. The brunt of the economic recession is still being borne by all, be it clothing store, appliance outlets or any other retail outlets.

A sigh of relief can be taken only when signs of recovery are there to last for long. Stabilizing the financial markets and creating credit are some of the measures being taken as for now. Sales of consumer durables fell by 5.9 percent in March. Specialty clothing stores was down by 1.6 percent. Wal-Mart Stores Inc, Target Corp etc, the general merchandize stores was down by 0.2 percent as well.

Retail sector is hit badly and it may take a while for it to stabilize. With the rising unemployment, decreased consumer spending, and low credit availability, rebound in sales may require some more time. Economic recession is yet to show signs that its really easing and recovering.
