The R & B singer Chris Brown and pop star Rihanna got back together, apparently in a reconciliation, three short weeks after their widely reported fight that resulted in the female being injured. Their newfound, albeit momentary, love nest is a Miami, Florida house of rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, himself once crossing the bounds of law with his abusive behavior.
Brown returned on the day of Rihanna’s 21st birthday. In true form, he earlier apologized publicly for the incident. With the help of his pastor and family, Brown now wants to become a better person.
In spite of a nearly total press blackout right after the incident, a photograph of the injured Rihanna managed to surface. It showed the singer with bruises on her forehead, black eye, and bloodied lips. There was little doubt that she was mauled. Nothing much was heard of afterwards except for some rumors that she, or her camp, was going to press charges of battery. And then none. Brown was arrested but released after bail. A court hearing is scheduled on March 5.
A crime needs a complainant for it to prosper as a court case as it fully should. With Chris Brown having successfully wooed Rihanna back, it only means that there won’t be any charges forthcoming from the rightful complainant.
The Rihanna-Chris Brown affair is a typical abusive relationship. Abuse comes in a cycle of honeymoon-tension-violence-wooing back-forgiveness-honeymoon. It is up to the battered woman to exit a toxic relationship. Abusers do not change. For the young and globally popular woman, it looks like she’s caught in a cyclically abusive relationship. The ball is in her court – if she goes to court.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Rihanna and Chris Brown were married, and have been for months already
