Robin Soderling surprised everyone with his fantastic serves and the real shocker came when he quashed fourth seeded Gilles Simon 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 yesterday at the Lyon Grand Prix. With this win comes his fourth indoor final this year. Soderling has been defeating his opponents in a juggernaut fashion but nevertheless says Simon proved to be a tough nut to crack.
In fact, Simon seemed to win the game and it was only during the third set that he showed any chances of improvement and he finally did send Simon crashing down. The final champ would be decided next week when the Paris Masters shall take place.
The fact that Soderling came from a humble beginning when his career started and the fantastic rise to being one of the top players is indeed commendable and praiseworthy.
