Starting today, one of the most influential magazines of the music scene will provide its entire archive – since the first editions – on the Internet. Guess which one? The Rolling Stone magazine.
Now, fans of the magazine, of any age will have access to content published even before his or her birth, which is great for collectors and fans of old bands – but he or she will have to pay its price.
While much of the content is released for free, Rolling Stone’s plans include a fee for complete access: $ 3.95 per month or $ 2.50 monthly in the case of an annual subscription, according to disclosure of the AFP. The issues will be part of the magazine’s website, which also will have more audio and video.
Other magazines and newspapers are already charging for access to its content, such as the famous American newspaper The New York Times. The site Mashable thinks that even if this practice is being widely criticized, the work to put so much new material on the site justifies the payment, and the price is very reasonable for the amount of information that will be offered.
