Samsung Wave Smart Phone Achieves DivX Certification

One of the biggest and foremost name in the field of consumer electronics, Samsung has achieved yet another milestone, as the company’s upcoming smart phone, Samsung Wave has now been awarded with DivX certification, for high definition playback, making the world’s first HD mobile phone to achieve DivX certification.

Samsung and DivX are expected to collaborate on future Samsung projects, such as the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S. This all new smart phone will be introduced to the world, along with Samsung Wave at the CTIA Wireless Show. The Galaxy S is said to be powered by Google Android mobile operating system and will be sporting a 4 inch AMOLED screen. Samsung and DivX are known to have a strong working relationship and mobile phone manufacturer was the first company to seek out the DivX certification for smart phones. As of now, Samsung has released more than 45 handsets across the globe, that provide playback for DivX videos.

The certification provided by DivX to Samsung Wave smart phone was awarded after intense and rigorous tests were conducted on the handset’s video playback capabilities. These tests contained parameters such as reliable video creation and playback, along with compatibility tests conducted with other DivX certified devices, as well as the quality of videos being run on Wave.

According to Younghee Lee, (VP, Samsung Mobile Communications).

“We were very excited to become the first manufacturer to offer DivX Certified mobile phones to consumers in 2007, and since that time we’ve continued to work together to help evolve the mobile video experience. Now, we are able to extend that spirit of innovation with the first DivX HD mobile devices, both of which are industry-leading phones based on cutting-edge smart phone platforms.”
