It’s a futuristic bath machine. But Ultrasonic Bath or Human In Roll-lo Bathing system was displayed as early as in 1970 by consumer electronics major Sanyo, at the Osaka world expo. Call it a sauna or a washing machine for human beings, that has not made it to consumer homes after all these decades.

In its 15 minute programmed procedure, all you have to do is sit down in its chamber with your head above the oval dome, after you have climbed in through its opening on top.

Switch it on. The temperature you need for water is set. And you get sprayed with hot water jets for a full five minutes. It is quickly followed by a three minute massage bath with high pressure jets that create `golf ball sized massage balls’ that push blood circulation. An ultrasonic air generator creates bubbles that lift dirt from your skin. The next step is a five minute dry cycle preceded by a two minute hot rinse cycle. A scan of infrared and ultraviolet rays to kill any residual germ left, is the final step.

Also, a compact version of the concept model was designed for use in homes of the elderly. For all you know, our washing machines would have drawn inspiration from this human machine concept.
