School Conservation and Renewable Energy Club Creates Green Space

Conservation and Renewable Energy club at the Rialto High School is abuzz with activity these days. Joye Cantrell oversees the work to be done and the schools dirt patch is being converted into a green space that includes a garden, a meditation labyrinth and a learning lab. The garden would include eco friendly native plants and also arid, drought tolerant non native flowers.

BP Energy and Edison International have given Joye $10,000 for the project and it seems to be kicking finally. She is a standing example of what can be done in schools and community centers where the entire community can be involved in creating green patches instead of dirt patches.

There would also be classes about how landscapes can be maintained in one’s own yards without having to spend too much. This is a huge problem as many people have space for gardens but do not have the money to make them sustainable.
