To most of us the world of the Internet is all about social networks, e-mails, chats, downloads and more or less anything that is concentrated on entertainment. However the realm of the online world is far too wide to be summed up in one world and one of the most crucial aspects of the web is, Internet advertising. Since the advent of the Internet and the introduction of Microsoft and Yahoo! as two major players in the online world, Internet marketing has been one of the biggest venues for the publishers and the advertisers to earn good money.
Now, it seems that the world of Internet advertising is going to witness a dramatic change as, scientists from the University of Toronto in conjunction with UofT Electrical have apparently devised an all new technology, that elevate the Internet marketing realm. Traditionally, the ads placed on the websites are allowed only in certain sizes, therefore, forcing the webmasters to design their entire sites, as per the permissible size of the advertisements. However, as per the new technology, the advertisements can now be automatically be resized to fit any and all web pages, whether its on PCs or on mobile devices. This all new Internet advertising technology will be displayed at the World Wide Web 2010 Conference in late April in Raleigh, North Carolina.
According to Parham Aarabi, (Associated Prof., Computer Engineering),
“Currently, a significant portion of usable website spaces are not used for advertising because the standard size ads don’t fit. Our technology is the first ever to conform ads to any available website space in an automated and practical way. Essentially, advertisers provide a single ad at a preset size, and our technology can, automatically and dynamically, regenerate the ad at any size, resolution, or aspect ratio by taking into account the contents of the ad, relevant text, and other information.”
