Sharp’s massive 410-inch liquid crystal digital screen was the cynosure of everyone’s eyes at the recent Interop Tokyo 2010. And quite understandably so as it displayed crystal clear images on the wall and the floor. Pretty cool huh? I thought so too. Individual PN-V601 screen panels of which 30 were placed on the wall, and a further 24 on the floor to create these large images. So you had the images of innumerable fish floating on the wall as you walked towards the main exhibition.
This technology could very well be used to create virtual worlds. I mean you can pretty much display anything on these screens. And if the entire area is covered with this screen then one could even have a scenery! Sharp claims that these 6.5 mm thick screens are the thinnest in the world. I believe you.
This super cool technology is going to be out in the market soon and you will be able to see it in malls, airports and stations from August onwards. I guess the boring old walls will become a thing of the past. Visually stunning, but I am not sure when this will find its way into our living rooms.
