The best fashion styles, like the best of most everything, are stolen from someone else. Bring to mind the grunge look and you would be reminded of how designers were inspired by torn clothes and hoodies. This time, inspiration from the street goes back into helping the street people instead of the filthy rich.

The Shelter Cart is designed much like the grocery cart that most beggars and homeless people are seen with, pushing around their meagre belongings. What differentiates the Shelter Cart from just any other cart is its modular structure which allows the cart to be used either as a cart or as a make-shift shelter. Designed by Gregor Timlin and Barry Sheehan of Sharc Design for the DesignBoom Social Awareness Award 2006, the Shelter Cart was created not with the intention of actually selling these mobile homes to the homeless but to create awareness amongst the better off.

The Shelter Cart merely has to be propped upside down with the wheels in the air and a part of the cart can be pulled out to completely shelter the person from the brutalities of nature.
