Every little things of everyday use are being re-designed by integrating modern technology to enhance the functionality. Here is SILK, an electronic measuring tape design, which totally redefines the traditional ones. The tape is very different, both in looks and functionality. This tape is actually made of thin steel wire which can be used to measure almost anything.

SILK is a trendy multifunctional electronic tape with a display that can be used to measure length, circumference, can be used as a plumb and moreover it can record multi-time measurements too.  Best part of course is the display which makes it all very easy to note the measurements.

One cannot deny need and utility of measuring tape in everyday life, designers Liao Yuelong, Li Hongbing and Guo Yang deserve a lot of appreciation for this design which truly enhances utility of the tape. This design project has already won Red Dot Concept Design award.

Modern designers are truly inspirational because they come up with amazing concepts which integrate modern technology in good old everyday use items. I am sure this project will be a reality and we will be able to buy this awesome SILK measuring tape which will make taking, recording and noting down measurements much easier.
