Lamar is one such person who knows how to live life without spending any money at all. He does not pay any utility bills nor does he have to pay rent or mortgage. He built his own Simple Solar Homesteading on a private piece of land and he makes all his energy and power thanks to the abundant solar energy.
Lamar has written a book in which he guides people to build cabins for less than $2000 on lands that are bought for around $100 to $200. He suggests that much of the power can be derived through solar energy and you may not have a drive-way or a tarred road, but you sure can drive through the thorns if you have a sturdy pickup.
When it is winter, the cabin can be heated easily since it is small, and can allow you to build 3 extensions as well if you wished. Lamar may sound too optimistic and his book may look quite amazing, but is it really realistic? He suggests that there are many states where there are no building codes and rules and thus your cabin would not be demolished.
However, one cannot depend on legislation when building a house no matter how cheap it is. Moreover, the land that you may get may not be located in a hospitable area, and it is not just a house that you need, but also access to shops, groceries and medical health care. Somehow, it sounds too idealistic and very less realistic in most people’s cases. You could get the book for just $5!
