If you are middle aged and not getting enough sleep, you must perhaps blame the clogged arteries in your heart. A new study reveals that heart disease and calcification in the heart could result in sleeplessness in the aged. This could be taken as a warning and appropriate measures to thwart further deterioration or clogging of arteries can be considered.
If you are sleeping for an extra hour that means your heart has 33% less chance of being clogged by calcium. The “Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA)” conducted the research on about 500 adults between the ages 35 and 47. About 12.3% of them turned out to be unwell and their heart’s arteries being clogged.
In case you are middle aged and are not sleeping well, you shouldn’t be brushing it away but instead you may have to see your doctor and request for an angiogram. Sleep has always been linked to healthy hearts. In fact a person who sleeps about 7-8 hours every night has a lesser chance of developing heart diseases. Sleeping more than that or less than that could prove to be harmful.
