Forget Afghanistan and Iraq, a new war is brewing in the bowels of the Internet, in the form of the social networking war, where the adversaries are none other than, the search giant Google Inc. and the king of social networking, Facebook. In the last five years, the entire face of the social networking trend has had a massive makeover, so much so that, services such as Facebook, Twitter etc. have now become an integral part of our very existence.
In the month of June this year, the entire web got buzzed with the unconfirmed reports of a massive social networking project being underway by Google, that is now more commonly known as, Google Me. Especially, after the failure of Google Wave, the engineers and developers would surely have understood what went wrong and would then try even harder to make Google Me an instant smash hit. Now, Google’s rapid advance has rung warning bells in the hallows of the Facebook empire, and if some reports are to be believed, the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has now initiated a 60 days ‘lockdown’ to make the service an even better experience for the users, in the anticipation of Google Me. The Facebook offices are now open even on weekends and as per sources, Mark has even hung a neon sign of ‘Lockdown’ outside his office.
According to official Facebook statement,
“Our focus is always on improving our products and creating new ways for people to connect and share information. We’re not going to engage in rumors about our future plans.”
