The World Solar Challenge is an annual racing event down under in Australia that has already achieved a status of mythical proportions with the finest college teams from across the globe competing in a race that involves the cleanest energy- that of the sun. Delft University already has four World Solar Challenge titles under their belt and they hope to add a fifth title to the list this year. So what will be the all-green solar chariot that will drive them home to that victory? The guys are hoping that their newly unveiled Nuna5 will work the magic for them.

The Nuna4 is designed to gain maximum from its resources with 6 square meters of solar panels and comes ready to harness the power of the sun, while in-built batteries will store them to give it more power when needed. Weighing in at 160 kilos, it will be expected to cross the finish line first after a journey of 3000 km across the tough and treacherous Australian outback and this time, on ordinary tires. With the hope Delft University resting on its broad panels and its young team, we will have to wait till 25th of October to find out how the script turns out!
