Sony Unveils New In-Car Walkman Sound Dock For Hi-fi Sound On The Go!

When its comes to music and high fidelity sound, the only name that comes to one’s mind is that of Sony Corporation. Whether it is a home theater system, a walkman or a music cell phone, Sony has made a name for itself as the leading company in cutting edge sound technology. Now, Sony has unveiled yet another marvelous creation, called RDP-NWV500 speaker system or the Walkman Sound Dock.

This state of the art sound dock has been built specifically for automobiles and can easily fit in a car’s cup holder. The dock consists of a speaker system, that looks more like a thermos for hot coffee and churns out an impressive 16 watts of Sony’s legendary sound covering the entire 360 degrees of the interior of the automobile. This incredible gadget take its power from your car’s battery, by plugging in to the cigarette lighter console, thereby eliminating the need for batteries or constant recharges. You can control the volume of the speaker system by tapping onto the onboard controls, which at times could prove difficult, especially when you are on a freeway. However, the Walkman Sound Dock also comes with a nifty little remote control, that can be used to change tracks, volume control and for other functions.

Even though the Sony Walkman Sound Dock sounds pretty cool, yet it does make one think about the rationality of its purchase with a $214 price tag, especially when the device works as a standalone and does not plug into your existing car sound system. Furthermore, the 16 watts sound output could be considered quite less when compared to the sound churned out by the car’s audio system. All in all, the Sony Walkman Sound Dock, sounds to be a pretty cool gadget, but then again, there would be the difference of opinion from the motorists.
