Team Spain is all set to stump the Solar Decathlon this year. Their little concept is called the B&W house which has a roof that has been fashioned to rotate to face the sun and capture maximum sunlight. The square house has a single-story to ensure there in no energy loss of any kind.

The researchers are trying to keep the structure as modest as possible. That should explain the area of the house, which is 45 square meters. Apparently, a recirculation heat/refrigeration liquid capture system redistributes all the solar energy through the walls buffering it as thermal inertia mass.

Other than that basic principle, the scientists at the Decathlon will be happy to see the use of a skylight to illuminate the house with diffused light; a great way to save on the electricity bill. There is an abundance of other passive principles but the one that tops the list is definitely the 2-ton solar panel on the roof. All the other info about the B&W House is still under wraps, after all there is a competition to win. So, let’s just wait for more dope.
